Fork Service
General fork strip. clean + service.
As a guide, the strip, wash + clean in a parts cleaner and rebuild of a pair of front forks will cost in the region of £88 + vat for the labour plus the price of any parts. In general, we recommend at least a pair of genuine or good quality seals at approximatly £20 - £30 for the pair. A set of bushes can add between £40- £50. Std good quality 5wt oil is £8 upwards a liter and most modern forks take just over this so if you are expierenced enough to do this type of work yourself, you will need two bottles if its sold per Litre. Out of courtesy, we don't recommend that you strip or service forks unless you really know what you are doing and have the correct tools to reinstall the seals and to do the job properly. Generally the turnaround time on stripping, servicing and rebuilding a pair of forks is within a week by prior arrangement by email or phone. A couple of tip's we will give you is to make sure that when you re-fit your forks to the bike, make absolutely sure you torque up the top and bottom triple clamp bolts to the recomended torque setting as per the owners mannual. Secondly, make sure that when re-fitting the front wheel, you take special care to ensure that the forks are "Centralised" before tightening up the R/H pinch bolts. Look out for the correct proceedure on how to do this in the "Technical Info" in the coming weeks. |
